Monster-in-Law (2005)

Jennifer Lopez, in her umpteenth impersonation of the girl with no money or common sense but so much kindness who finds love with a lot more money and hardly more sense, must face her mother-in-law this time.

The script is pretty stupid (you gotta dare the “oh, but the girl who was clinging to your shoes at the party and looked like me like she wanted to put me six feet under told me you were gay, so I really thought you were gay even though I’d been pretty sure you were actually hitting on me !”), and it hurts to see Jane Fonda defending her character and the movie with all her talent (and she has plenty). That’ll teach her spending fifteen years away from the studios to please Ted Turner.
